This series of paintings reflect Isabel’s love of all things Mid-Century Modern. Inspired by the architecture of the case study houses in Los Angeles from the late 40’s through 60’s, Philip Johnson’s Glass House and Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House, she has restored two A. Quincy Jones houses, one an Eichler in Lucas Valley. She has been influenced by the painters of the New York School, particularly the work of the second generation Abstract Expressionists, Cy Twombly and Joan Mitchell. And in music, she says, “It’s still rock and roll for me! “
When one looks at the paintings, it’s possible to detect an architectural substructure, a hint of the brush work and line of Mitchell and Twombly and the joyful color and rhythm of rock and roll.

Raised in the suburbs of New York City, Isabel Wyatt came to California to attend Mills College where she graduated with a BA in Studio Art. Later she received a BFA with Distinction in Interior Architecture from California College of the Arts.
